3.44pm: fitters complete new carpet on bank holiday
Friday afternoon at the Environment Agency HQ. They'd had the carpet fitters in all week, fitting brand new carpets.
3.45pm: ceiling collapses and water floods the floor
There'd been a water leak, and the ceiling had just collapsed -
on to the new carpet. The water had been turned off but they really needed some help to clear up the mess.
10.45pm: carpet recovery completes
Bank holiday weekend, major traffic.
Relyon was there in two hours.
It was a real mess - the hallway looked as though it was covered in cottage pie. We cleared away all the debris and salvaged the carpets with a deep clean.
Warm-air blowers were put in place and the carpet was monitored to make sure it was drying without stains
and inspected when it was completely dry at about 10.30pm.
9am: business as usual
EA was working over the weekend so there was no disruption to business at all.
By Friday night the new carpet was once again revealed in all its glory, and it was business as usual for the EA.
They were absolutely over the moon. An emergency service wasn't part of the contract
but we will always look after the people we do business with.
